Get a 256GB SanDisk Extreme (Gold/Red) or Extreme PRO microSD card. DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro uses a microSD Card rated U3 / V30 / A2. Do NOT use a standard 'SanDisk Ultra' card—it is too slow for 4K video and your camera/drone will stop recording or show 'SD Card Too Slow'.
The official maximum supported capacity for DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro is 512GB – 1TB (tested up to 1TB). For the best balance of price and reliability, our recommended sweet-spot size is 256GB.
128GB ≈ 4 hrs of 4K60 video • 256GB ≈ 8 hrs of 4K60 video • 512GB ≈ 16 hrs of 4K60 video. Choosing 256GB gives plenty of headroom without overpaying.
Standard cards are too slow for high-bitrate 4K/5.3K video. Using a card below V30 speed will cause frame dropping or 'SD Card Too Slow' recording stops. Always use a card with a guaranteed minimum 30MB/s sustained write speed (V30 / U3). 4K60 and 5.3K video require a guaranteed 30MB/s minimum sustained write speed (V30).
Setup requirement: exFAT (Plug & Play). Insert the card into your device. Most modern devices will recognize exFAT automatically without requiring manual formatting.
Yes. Unbranded or counterfeit marketplace cards frequently spoof their capacity or fail to sustain U3 / V30 / A2 write speeds, leading to corrupted recordings or 'Card Error' warnings. Stick to genuine, branded cards from a reputable retailer to ensure full manufacturer warranty coverage.
