Get a 32GB SanDisk High Endurance microSD card (Do NOT buy 128GB+). Nextbase 122 Dash Cam uses a microSD Card rated Class 10 / U3. Older and entry-level dashcam models have a strict 32GB size limit and will refuse to format larger cards.
The official maximum supported capacity for Nextbase 122 Dash Cam is 32GB (tested up to 32GB). For the best balance of price and reliability, our recommended sweet-spot size is 32GB.
32GB ≈ 4 to 5 hours of continuous 1080p driving before looping (Max supported size). Choosing 32GB gives plenty of headroom without overpaying.
Cards larger than 32GB often trigger 'Card Error' on entry dashcam models. Standard consumer cards (such as SanDisk Ultra) are not built for continuous loop recording and wear out quickly. Crucially, Western Digital's official warranty terms explicitly exclude dashcam and surveillance use on standard consumer cards (only dedicated High Endurance and MAX Endurance models are covered by warranty). Entry dashcam firmware requires FAT32 and High Endurance flash cells.
Setup requirement: FAT32 (Format inside Dash Cam). For best results, format a brand-new card directly inside the Nextbase 122 Dash Cam settings menu upon first installation to establish the correct cluster size for continuous loop recording. We recommend reformatting every 3–4 weeks to clear protected event files.
Yes. Unbranded or counterfeit marketplace cards frequently spoof their capacity or fail to sustain Class 10 / U3 write speeds, leading to corrupted recordings or 'Card Error' warnings. Stick to genuine, branded cards from a reputable retailer to ensure full manufacturer warranty coverage.
